Support in Perimenopause & Postpartum
Now is the time to find support for this stage of life
Perimenopause and Postpartum are two areas I specialize in and both don't have the support that they deserve.
I want a world where we have support and it's not looked at as weak.
While we’ve made a lot of progress in discussing perimenopause and postpartum, there is still so much room for people to actually get the services and help they need in that stage of life.
I was looking at Instagram the other day and a well known actress was discussing how she felt embarrassed that she was battling depression. On the outside she is a very positive optimistic person. Reading through the comments I was shocked to see how many said they started battling the same thing as they entered their mid-40's. Most said they could just feel their hormones shifting and changing which effected their demeanor.
→The National Library of Medicine did a recent survey and 90% of women said they never learned a thing about perimenopause or menopause.
→Meanwhile perimenopause and menopause affect more than a billion women worldwide each year.
→ On the postpartum side 59% of new mothers felt unsupported 6 months after having a baby according to the recent Baby Center poll.
What is the solution?
I truly believe education in both areas can help. The more we get honest and real with our friends the more likely others behind us will get support.
What kind of support is out there?
- There are holistic medicine providers that specialize in perimenopause
- The Dutch Test can help give you an idea of what hormones might be a little off.
- For pregnancy finding a pre/postpartum specific personal trainer
- Yoga for pre/postpartum
Here are a few of blog posts on both topics if you want to read a bit further into either topic!
