The power of taking a pause
This theme came up for me over and over this past week. There is magic in the pause at the top of your inhale or exhale. There is magic in between activities in your day. Heck, even this past year feels like a giant pause in many ways.
Can you find the magic, or sweetness in that pause? I was talking with a few clients on adding in moments to themselves during the day. Many mamas who are still juggling schooling kids from home, trying to work their own job, figure out what to feed everyone, plus being at home all day feels like there is endless tasks to be done. It feels like there is no pause, there is no breaks.
I get it, I’m in that same position myself. One thing I encouraged these mamas to do is to build in 10 minute breaks. Make a cup of tea, grab a book and tell everyone it’s quiet time. I used to do this with my son starting at age 2 so you can teach them young.
I know it doesn’t seem like much time but from personal experience that 10 minutes of self-care for you can refuel you. It makes you feel like you had some alone time. So you don’t stay up super later trying to squeeze in every ounce of self-care or alone time at the end of your day.
How can you embrace the magic of the pause today? Start small and build from there. Below is my favorite 10 minute "medicine" framework to give you a few ideas of how small self-care acts can go a long ways.
