Let’s start by define Ayurveda- it literally translates to wisdom of life. It is such a vast system that you truly are never a master of but are always learning. There are many different areas of Ayurveda that one can gravitate towards- nutrition, fitness, nature, herbs, self-care, massage, mudras just to name a few. I thought I would share a few of the more common practices that I feel the most people can benefit from and easily incorporate into their lives.
Nutrition
- Early, lighter dinners
- Eating with the seasons & locally
- Not using a microwave
- Minimal leftovers
- Listening to what your body wants & craves
Fitness
- Listen to your body
- Move everyday
- Go for walks daily
- Get outside
Seasonal Living
- Notice the season changes
- Spring & Fall detoxes
- Adjust your routines
- Reorganize seasonally
Self-Care
- Self-massage
- Dry Brush
- Getting to bed on time
- Morning you time
- 10 minute medicine
Those are just a few ideas of where to get started with incorporating Ayurveda into your life. It really breaks down to knowing yourself and going within. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that, that is what is in vogue right now. We have become numb to so many areas of our lives and are waking up to lives we may not even recognize. Slowing down, being in nature and tuning in will all help you start to reawaken parts of you that might have been sleeping the last few years.
