Ayurvedic Digestion Tips
In Ayurveda digestion is queen. Digestion shows you so much about your health. Are you having regular bowel movements? Are you eating the foods that help you stay regular? When we look at digestion we look not only at what we are eating but what we are consuming with our minds, and eyes.
Have you ever spent hours scrolling through social media and watching tv all day. Somehow the end of the day comes and you are exhausted and you've done nothing. You also realize you didn't take anything in either. You were busy looking but not actually consuming anything.
How can you start to digest the world around you and pay attention to your physical digestion? Let's break that down in today's podcast.
Ayurvedic Digestion Tips not common in the west
Ayurvedic digestion tips that are not always common in the west. As with everything in Ayurveda you take what’s for you and leave what doesn’t feel right.

✅Eat sitting down without distractions
✅Slow down when you eat
✅Lunch as the biggest meal when digestion is strongest
✅Minimal liquids with your meals
✅ Warm foods are easier to digest
✅Minimal snacking in between meals
✅ You will have a small burp that signals your full each meal
✅ Give gratitude before your meal
✅ Eat when in a good mood as food is easier to digest
My own digestion story
Digestion how often do we think about it? If you’re regular probably only when your tummy is upset.
For those who suffer from chronic constipation, IBS, or other bathroom issues its daily.
The first time I realized I wasn’t regular was when I was 16 and our local doctor my friends mom asked how often I pooped, I said once a week. She said that’s not great… I didn’t know 🤷🏼♀️ Now I was also the chronic suck in your stomach person like I know so many of us were when we were younger which makes it hard to be regular as well.
For myself that is where Ayurveda has helped me immensely learn what foods were contributing to the problem (dry crackers, popcorn, salads) so I needed to modify my habits. Not only what I eat but sitting down at the kitchen table to eat has been a game changer. Having been an in-home personal trainer for 10 years I would eat in my car, usually a Perfect Bar as that was easy to transport or stop at a coffee shop and grab a quick mini sandwich and another coffee. Looking back I lived off coffee when I woke up at 4:30am to teach my 6am HIIT class 😬
Needless to say I don’t do all of these things perfectly I do add blueberries into my favorite baked oatmeal I make for the week. I do have leftovers as I don’t want to cook each week. Ayurveda is not about being perfect its about balance. If I did have a heavier meal the next will be a lighter one to aid in digestion.
