Do I really need to work out with my cycle?
In my 17 years as personal trainer, and having stuck to a day by day cycle plan in the past my answer….probably not.
Here's Why
Working out is difficult for many. We can discuss ways around why it’s difficult but that won’t change the fact it’s hard. If we put one more barrier to entry in place such as what day am I on in my cycle we will have more people skipping it.
Does that mean we should completely ignore our cycles? Absolutely not! ❌
Instead, what I like to teach people is how to listen to their bodies.
What is your energetic needs of the day?
How are you feeling?
That will probably align with your cycle if you have a regular for you menstrual cycle.
Perimenopause
As I’m starting to get into perimenopause and still battling postpartum hormones, weaning off breast-feeding for almost a year and a half there’s a lot going on.
I have several clients in a very similar age, and time of life as myself. You might be in perimenopause, you’ve had babies later in life, and are trying to figure out what the heck is going on with your body as they enter your 40s.
I want people to tune in and connect with their bodies and working out is a great way to start to find your new rhythms your new routines. Movement can be a gateway to learning how to listen to your body.
So at the end of the day, if working out with your menstrual cycle is a way of saying listen to your energetic needs 100% do that.
If it’s adding one more barrier to your life and you don’t quite know where to start to even track your menstrual cycle or you have an ir regular cycle, skip it.

Craving a space to connect deeper?
I'm creating a program opening in October where we will go deep for 6 months. Tapping into movement, mindfulness and mother nature as medicine. This program is for the woman who has been feeling the call to embrace the subtle body, to do some deep inner work, who is tired of outsourcer her own power and happiness.
