What I'm Reflecting on this Season of Life
Today is my 40th birthday as this airs, September 17th. I'm in disbelief and awe at the same time. As I look in the mirror I do notice more lines, sun spots, and an age about myself that I haven't previously.
Things I'm Reflecting on
- Yin Energy and how my summer of yin has turned into the practice I need at this season of my life.
- Soma the nectar of life. Restoring myself to my fullness.
- Ojas I need more and more to feel refreshed vs tired and drained.
- I finally feel like I've found my yoga teaching voice. After teaching yoga consistently for 10 years I finally feel like I have my own voice, style and flow.
- Ayurveda brought me back to what I knew. Growing up on a farm seasonal wisdom is so ingrained in our way of life it's nice to have the framework of Ayurveda to fully grasp the seasonal concepts.
- Wear what you want to wear. Stop shying away from the fancy hat, pants, or clothes because they don't fit the "norm".
- Lifting weights is more important now than ever.
- Epsom salt baths in the winter followed by Abyhanga are my favorite practices to tune into my body.
- Learning to listen to your body is an artform that needs to be taught at an early age.
- We need more menstrual cycle education in schools.
- We need more perimenopause and menopause education for women to not feel so alone.
- Postpartum education is also needed to understand why slowing down, eating warming foods, vs the traditional bounce back culture that leaves moms feeling burnt out and overwhelmed.
- I can't believe I've had a podcast for 9 years already, reflecting on being consistent for 9 years.
- I started playing tennis vs volleyball because I wanted to play a life long sport, I finally am getting back to playing tennis and it feels so good.
- I'm in awe of the 28 year old me who started her business and just dove in head first no idea of what was to come, no idea how to do her own business but she did it.
- I need to go on retreat every year to tune back into my needs. It's so easy to go, go go and not take a deep look at what I need both for me and my business.
- Wild Woman Circles are so life giving. This is a reset button each month to tune into your needs but also to connect to like minded women who don't look at you like you have 3 eyes when you talk oracle cards, intuition, and all things divine.
What I'm excited for in the future
I've talked with so many who said the 40's was their favorite decade. I'm looking forward to diving in feeling more confident in who I am, seeing my boys grow up in this next decade. I feel excited to see how my own work shifts and takes shape.
