What is the hidden factor that might be hurting your results?

Consistency

I signed up for an Ayurvedic and Western Medicine masterclass this past week discussing how they can both work side by side. It's a class taught by Dr. Vasant Lad a trusted Ayurvedic doctors team. I have already learned so much from the first two sessions about the subtle body and how that plays a factor in reaching your goals. What does that mean? Our thoughts.. What thoughts are you playing on repeat. Example- I can never lose the weight. As others from class were sharing their own inner thoughts this quote really sunk in from a participant in the group.

I’m realizing I’m very inconsistent in doing things and realizing as years have gone by that inconsistencies is catching up with me.

What profound insight to offer. What you do consistently matters. That's why missing a workout on vacation won't hurt you if you come back and pick up your exercise routine right away. The same goes for nutrition. If you have a weekend where you ate things you don't normally eat and don't feel great but you pick up with your regular habits on Monday it won't hurt.

But what does hurt is when you stick with an exercise habit for a month don't see progress and quit for a year. You try again a year later now it last 3 months and you stop for 4 months. These patterns are what hurts people from reaching their goals. Many people who are in great shape aren't doing anything special but are just consistent with eating foods that they can digest, moving their bodies, going for walks, taking time to rest when they feel rundown. It's when we think that we need to go 100 miles an hour because we've been "off" for 4 months that ends up hurting our results. Nobody can go from 0 to 100 without getting burnt out.

consistent

How does that work if you want to live a cyclical life?

You can still be consistent an honor the season that you're in. For example every menstrual phase I rest the first 3 days of my cycle from my workouts. I plan those as rest days each month. Every month I know I typically like to workout harder during my follicular & ovulation phase I plan a workout everyday. (I can do that because I've been consistent for 21 years so I've built up that resistance, I don't recommend if you haven't been consistently working out for more than 5 years, or are feeling burnt out and depleted.) I switch up my morning rituals every season and when I don't they feel stale I can tell they need to shift because I'm bored with them and don't feel excited to break out my yoga mat first thing in the morning. For me that's how I can still be consistent and live a seasonal life.

Weekly Challenge

Now over to you, what area in your life are you feeling like consistency would really help you not only this year but in 20 years? Where do you want to build that muscle?
