Self-Care during your Luteal phase of your cycle

Every month our hormones fluctuate and we are left feeling energized one week just to feel depleted the next. Our cycles are so connected to how we are feeling aka hormones. I know personally I didn't learn enough about my cycle in school to understand it as an adult. I was chatting with a friend from Australia who said the same thing. We just didn't learn it and I think that's a shame.

How can we really understand our bodies if we are not taught how they work. We are not taught how feeling full of energy and outgoing is normal one week but wanting to crawl in a cave the next week is "normal." My goal is to start to normalize working out with your cycle and helping us realize it's empowering to talk about your menstrual health not something to be ashamed of but embraced.

Self-Care during Luteal Phase

(Also known as Fall phase or Waning moon phase)

Details wrap up projects

This phase of your cycle you feel like tying up loose ends. Any projects you've started now is the time to finish those. Editing or detail oriented work is perfect for this phase of your cycle.

Me time

Schedule some alone time so you can honor any emotions that come up. It's a great time to reflect and go inwards. Me time doesn't have to be an entire day to yourself, it can be as simple as 10 minutes in the morning to read your favorite book, journal or mediate.

Say no

Don't over do things. Now is not the time to say yes to everything, especially if it's happening during your menstrual phase.

Inner intervention

Do I need to change the channel on my inner critic? If you notice yourself judging you or those on social media more now in this phase. Pause and ask what this is about if you notice it's just a phase, take a break. How can you switch up your energy? Sometimes that means deleting the app, sometimes it means dancing or shaking the energy out. What would feel good to get rid of that inner critic?

Clear out

What needs to be organized? What needs to be cleaned? Can you organize your life, or business, or homeschool supplies? What can you organize during this phase that will help clear your mind from the clutter and overwhelm.

Enjoy cooked foods

Cooked foods are easier to digest, especially if you have experienced digestive issues the past few cycles. Warming stews, soups, cooked veggies, quinoa bowls all can be easier on your body to digest and have regular bowel movements.

Ditch social media

The late luteal phase if your inner critic is going wild, delete the app. Don't try and fight through it. I find sometimes I get feisty and judgmental with the app and other-times I get spacey and flighty feeling. Both are not good or in balance for myself. If you have those feelings delete the apps and connect back into what is your true north star.
