Movie: A Godwink Christmas: Meant For Love
Background on the movie
I love how the movie was based in Minneapolis, MN as that is my home state! So it started strong for me now. This movie was based on a true story which always has a new depth to it. The chemistry between the two leads was wonderful and she talked like a true Minnesotan she said no worries and I knew she was a true Minnesotan, lol. I was not a big fan of the first one as it felt like it was slow moving this one was a lot more fast paced and really worked for me.
Family is important to both characters and both families were happy to meet and greet with the potential new love interest of their family member. There was also an incredible full circle moment for each of the main characters uncles that actually happened in real life. It seemed to picture perfect to be true and it actually happened!
This was a surprise movie for me. I went in with low expectations but really enjoyed the movie, though full disclosure the Minneapolis setting might have helped me enjoy it.
What worked?
I think the pace of the movie, the actual relationship between the two main characters was super sweet and unfolded beautifully. The actors chemistry and playful spirits I think helped carry the movie and really enjoyed that family was a centerpiece for the movie.
What didn't work?
The dad of a young kid left his child sleeping in a cold car in Minnesota, unrealistic in December just saying..
3 Takeaways
- Show casting the love of family and not just the immediate family but that family comes to help in times of joy and in times of need.
- This is the first Hallmark movie that I remember being centered in Minnesota and I loved it! Even if it really wasn't filmed there they at least mentioned Minneapolis about 30x, lol.
- Chemistry between the main characters really make or break a movie and this one was great!
