Lessons from the Court
Hey everyone, welcome back to Seasons of the Self.
I’m so glad you’re here.
“I’ve always been in love with the game — any game, really. I was a three-sport athlete through high school and college, and being on the court or the field felt like home. Sports weren’t just competition for me — they were connection, expression, and freedom. Whether it was the team huddle before tip-off, the crack of a tennis ball against the racket, or the rhythm of training drills, those moments shaped who I am. And even now, years later, I still find joy — real, deep, soul-level joy — when I pick up a ball and play. Joy on the Court is born from that love: it’s a space where we explore movement as medicine, sport as sanctuary, and the way play can bring us back to ourselves.”
Today, I want to share a story that unfolded this past weekend — one that caught me completely off guard in the best way, and reminded me of something I think we all need to hear right now.
It’s about basketball, joy, Prana... and remembering how to feel fully alive again.
So this weekend, I was in the bleachers watching my son play in his very first real AAU basketball game. Now, keep in mind — he’s a third grader playing up on a fifth-grade team. So, as you can imagine, he’s a little clueless about what’s actually happening on the court. 🤷🏽♀️
But watching him? It was honestly magical.
He played with this raw, unfiltered joy — running, jumping, trying things, smiling the whole time. He wasn’t worried about the scoreboard. He wasn’t overthinking anything. He was just in it. Completely present. Fully alive.
And at the end of the game, a ref came over to me and said something that really landed:
"I just love watching your son play. You can’t help but smile when you see him out there."
That moment stuck with me. Because it made me realize how rare that kind of joy becomes as we grow up.
Somewhere along the way, we stop playing for fun. We start performing. Striving. Proving. We get so caught up in doing things the right way that we forget what it feels like to just be in the moment.
And then — in this beautiful bit of synchronicity — I started thinking about Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves' playoff run. If you’ve seen him play lately, you know what I mean. He’s electric. Not just talented, but joyful. He’s playful. Grinning. Fully in the moment. That energy is magnetic.
And it reminded me of a core principle in Ayurveda and Yoga:
Prana.
Life force energy. The energy that moves through us when we’re in flow, when we’re in alignment, when we’re not gripping or forcing or overthinking.
Prana loves joy.
It thrives in spontaneity, in presence, in movement that comes from the heart instead of the head.
And let’s be honest: most of us are feeling the opposite of that these days. We’re burnt out. Disconnected. Numb or overwhelmed. We wake up already tired, wondering where that spark went.
And that’s exactly why I created Sacred Seasons.
It’s not just another wellness program. It’s a seasonal reset for your body, mind, and spirit. It’s about tuning back into your own rhythm, clearing the energetic clutter, and making space for joy — real joy — to move through you again.
So here’s your invitation, from the bleachers and the basketball court to wherever you are right now:
➡️ If you’re ready to feel alive again —
To reconnect to the rhythm of the Earth, to your breath, your body, and your joy —
I would love to have you inside this next round of Sacred Seasons.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to be willing to show up — like my son on that court — curious, present, and open to the unexpected.
Thank you for being here.
And if you smiled at any point during this episode, that’s your Prana saying, “Hey… I’m still here.”
Go out there & spread your peaceful power!
