Family Ideas to Celebrate the Summer Solstice

Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate the solstice. I like to do the same flow each solstice season but with slight tweaks typically the craft activity based on Jalens age each year.

Yoga, Meditation

Sunrise yoga, meditation or pranayama is a great way to start the day even if your kiddos join you for 5 minutes. It’s also International Yoga Day on the solstice!

Sun Tea

sun tea

I like to create sun tea which I did as a child with my mom each summer. Add water into a glass jar with a top, place a bag or two of tea into the water and let the sun warm it up. You can add the tea amount and water depending your preference for the strength of the tea.

    Make a craft

Make a craft- This year we will be making multiple hand prints and painting them yellow. We will glue and form the handprints into the shape of a flower and add black or brown tissue paper crumpled up and glue to the center of the flower. Next green construction paper for the stem.

    Strawberry Shortcake

I like to have either a strawberry shortcake, or cupcake or bake a summery treat that I let my kiddo pick out each year.

    Make a time capsule

Make a time capsule- Everyone writes down what their goals, hopes, or major milestones that happened the past year. You can also do this from solstice to solstice and open your 6 month check-in letter to yourself.

    Bonfire & Cookout

Finally we finish with grilling out enjoying summer foods and having a bonfire and while Jalen is up roasting marshmallows for a treat!

    Seasonal Living Collective

How do you start living a more holistic lifestyle? There are so many avenues to go down and doing your own research can leave you confused and spinning your wheels. I’ve been there too. I have been diving deep into Ayurveda & herbal concoctions the past 7 years. I wanted to create a program for women in particular who might not have a ton of time to devote to a year long program, but do want to have a few basic tricks up their sleeves.
