Welcome to the Peaceful Power Podcast I’m your host Andrea Claassen and today we are breaking down adding more movement into your mornings.
Today is the start of the Peaceful Power Practices Summer series. Every other week I will break down one of the PPP in the podcast. What are the PPP’s? They are the 8 practices I find to be great starting points into women’s fitness journeys. They range from fitness, yoga & Ayurveda based techniques.
Today we are starting with a practice that sets us up to live a dynamic and successful day. We start with movement & meditation. Ideally we will have a 20 minute movement & meditation practice to begin each day. What does that look like? It can be 10 minutes of meditation followed by 10 minutes of movement in the form of yoga, a walk, bike ride, or a few bodyweight movements.
This can vary from day to day and from season to season. When you’re feeling extra frazzled you might need a longer time to sit in meditation. Maybe you only do 5 minutes of movement such as kettlebell swings or squats. As this practice develops you might extend it to 30-60 minutes. Again as your life changes such as when small kids are involved so will your morning routine.
If you can’t start with 20 minutes start with just 5 minutes. Pick either meditation or sun salutations, squats, KB swings and start there.
