In Ayurveda spring is kapha season. What does that mean? It means what is going on outside in nature is happening inside our bodies as well. The number one thing I suggest during the spring season is to move your body. Just like the mud that is forming outside that sludge feeling can happen in our bodies in particular in the lungs, sinuses, stomach (where kapha is associated in the body). ⁣

Workout Notes

  • High intensity, group environment more inviting
  • Compound exercises
  • Morning movement to start the day essential for kaphas⁣

General Practices⁣

* Dry brush every day – helps with circulation⁣

* Wake up & move- 10 minutes is good, 20 minutes great⁣

* 1/3 food, 1/3 water, 1/3 space when eating to see room for digestion⁣

* Spice is your friend as are honey & lemon ⁣

* Go to bed early & get up at dawn for movement practice⁣

* Move, move, move⁣

* Fennel- season with it, chew on it enjoy the spice to keep things from getting stagnant in the body. ⁣

* Neti-pot is great to keep allergies and congestion away. I like to follow it up personally with nasya oil if my nose is feeling dry. ⁣

* Spring cleaning and decluttering go hand in hand and when the kapha dosha is out of balance we tend to want to cling to things and get overly attached. So go through your home and declutter what you no longer love or need. ⁣

* Add a few twists into your yoga practice to keep things from getting stuck in the stomach and lungs. Another creative way to add twists is as your reading in bed take a gentle yoga twist for a few pages on each side. ⁣
