Improving our digestion using Ayurveda

I wanted to share a few Ayurvedic digestion tips that I’ve found helpful through the years for not only me but my clients as well.⁣

Reduce ama (toxins) reduce the sludge you put in your body or are exposed to, to the best of your ability. ⁣

Improve agni(digestive fire) if you don’t have a regular bowel movement first thing in the morning daily that’s an area to explore. I remember when I was 16 and my doctor asked how often do you have a movement I said once a week 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t know that wasn’t regular. There are lots of “fun” photos and descriptions of what a healthy bowel movement should look like but that’s a good place to start if you are feeling you might be a bit stagnant in this area. We are not only what we eat, but what we digest. ⁣

Lunch as our largest meal. I know for myself that took some time to adjust to having my meat over the lunch hour and sticking to soups or cooked veggies for dinner. 🤫salads are not great if you don’t have a regular bowel movement so opting out of uncooked veggies if you still need to reduce ama and increase agni. ⁣

Minimal snacks. If your digestion is off or if you graze throughout the day it’s tough for our bodies to fully digest our meals. Plus, we are never fully filling ourselves up and putting out our digestive fires.⁣

Early, lighter dinners that has been one of my favorite changes I’ve made since becoming an Ayurvedic counselor. I fought this so hard with my first teacher. Often what we resist the most is what we truly need. This was it for me. I know look forward to winding down my evening with a simple meal often eaten before 6pm. That also opens up my evening to have a little more self-care time for me and story time with my son. ⁣

Wanting to understand Ayurveda on a deeper level?

Over the past few years after training hundreds of women I’ve slowly started introducing Ayurvedic concepts to them and you know what? They love them. Ayurveda has given so many women the freedom around what they thought they “had to do" to live a healthy lifestyle. Since I’ve seen so many women thrive after introducing these Ayurvedic concepts into their lives I felt the need to create an awesome free 28 day introduction to Ayurveda.
I’ve created a free Ayurvedic toolkit with one task to introduce you to the basic concepts of Ayurveda. Each day you will get a fitness, nutrition, mindset, or self-care act to help you discover how to tune into your body a little more.
What most fitness & nutrition programs miss is the component that you are your best teacher and if you slow down to listen to what your body is telling you it already knows the answers.
This is one of the best/favorite freebies I’ve created as it has sooo much information that will help you become more aligned with your true self. The Free 28 Day Ayurvedic Toolkit starts whenever you join. So if you're ready to up level your health habits join us below to start to understand how to nourish your mind, body & soul.
