Closing the Bones is a sacred postpartum or ending an era ceremony where the body is gently wrapped, massaged, and held closed through rhythmic rebozo work and quiet ritual. Rooted in Ayurvedic principles of rest and warmth, it offers you a chance to feel physically supported and emotionally honored. It's less a treatment and more a rite of passage into motherhood.

Closing the Bones Ceremony

Craving a ritual to recenter

Traditionally practiced after childbirth, Closing the Bones uses long fabric wraps (rebozos) to apply gentle, rhythmic pressure to the body hips, ribs, shoulders symbolically and physically "closing" what has been opened. It's paired with warm massage, breathwork, and quiet presence, drawing on Ayurvedic principles of rest, warmth, and nourishment.

While it originated as postpartum care, the ceremony speaks to something bigger: the body's need to feel closed and contained after any experience that has left it open, exposed, or unmoored.

This ceremony is offered for:

  • New mothers, in the weeks or months following birth
  • Women moving through divorce or separation, honoring the end of a life chapter
  • Anyone navigating grief, loss, or major transition — a move, a diagnosis, an ending
  • Women simply craving to be held, with no milestone required

What Is Closing the Bones?

What to Expect

A Closing the Bones session is slow, quiet, and deeply held. You'll be fully clothed and comfortable. Over the course of the ceremony, you'll receive:

  • Grounding and a few opening questions to settle into the space
  • Gentle massage with warm oil (Abyhanga)
  • Rhythmic rebozo wrapping around the feet, hips, belly, and chest
  • A guided Yoga Nidra during your time in the nest (20-30 minutes)
  • Journaling post-closing the bones
  • A quiet, ritual space to simply receive — no performing, no explaining, no holding it together
  • I leave you with a flower essence to take for the next 6 weeks to continue your journey after our session.

Most sessions run around 90 minutes and take place in a warm, private setting often your home.

Who am I?

We live in a culture that rushes healing. We're expected to bounce back after birth, after loss, after heartbreak often before we've even had a chance to feel what happened.

Closing the Bones offers the opposite: a deliberate pause to be cared for, to let your body catch up with your life, and to close a chapter with reverence instead of rushing past it.
